Shopping cart software advice please? 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Has anyone had experience with using shopping cart software? I'm thinking about selling some physical products online and was wondering how to set up the shopping cart. There seems to be lots of software on offer...just trying to work out which one to go with. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I don't use one right now.. But I have noticed that there are heaps on offer

Dan at 15Kchallenge suggested 2checkout, which I like because it is a one off payment.. But lots of people use Franks 1shoppingcart, which has an autoresponder and shopping cart..

Sorry this isn't much help.. I'll be interested in the other answers

Oh and I have sold physical stuff using PayPal..

Cheers

I use it for AR's only at present and I love it!

I'm also using Aweber BUT I prefer Shoppingcart.

They have just done some major upgrades to the features too at Shoppingcart which sound super cool.

My very first product was a physical one and I used 1shoppingcart. It was pretty good, but at the time I was processing credit card payments in real time, meaning I had to use a payment gateway as well the shopping cart to process payments. It became expensive that way. From shopping cart, through the payment gateway and then into my own business account. I just didn't know any better at the time.
Whatever you choose, make sure the ecommerce side of things handles real time credit card payments, like 2checkout does, if you want to save a lot of headaches (and money). If you want to do it that anyway and live in Australia, the best way to go is eway.com.au They handled all of my transactions perfectly and it was easy to process refunds if I had to.
Check to see what kind of ecommerce comes with the package before you sign up to anything and pick one that uses 'internet' style payments ie, 2checkout, paypal, paymate (Aus), etc.

Cheers,

PS: 1shoppingcart, salesautomator, marketerschoice, and a few others are all identical, just rebranded.

Hi,

Do you have a merchant account already?

If you dont and you can process the transactions manually an easy solution is http://www.mobileeft.com.au

You can look at paypal as well though I dont think you can connect it up for real time processing with 1 shopping cart, but you can send invoices, links etc and they can pay through paypal or accept visa and mastercard using paypal, depends oh how you wantto do it.

If you are selling physical product and you dont need real time processing you can use 1shoppingcart to collect the credit card details and process the credit cards manually.

If you have lots of transactions it could be better to have it done automatically.

A few choices and it depends on your circumstances.

1shoppingcart is good for linking everything together.

Some links

Good info link http://www.ecommercewebsites.com.au/article-payment-processors.php

Practical example http://www.bellaforma.com.au/shop/Payment-Options-p-11.html
