HTML templates VS Joomla and others? 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi Guys,

I'm trying to decide what to build my business website using so I thought I would get a discussion going

On my site (www.punchbowlenterprises.com) I want to have:
1) Home page to be an optin page, also with links to about us, contact etc

2) A number of pages using the same template as the home page which will be opt-in pages for various things

3) A blog using a similar (if not exactly the same) theme/template as the home page

I just want something that is EXTREMELY easy to use, update, add new content etc as I tend to waste huge amounts of time 'fiddling' and trying to get things the way I want them (take today for example )

So what does everyone use?
I know Nez and Simon are in love with Joomla ...

Or is a basic html template the way to go? with a blog theme that is kinda similar?

I want something professional and clean, no flash. Something that would fit into the 'Web 2.0' category.

I look forward to hearing peoples thoughts!

Well they also converted me to Joomla and I have a new site at www.bamano.com which is pretty much what you described.

I have the front page with optin and a sort of blog "what's new" which I can add to as well.

Now I will confess that it isn't exactly the easiest thing to do BUT once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad.

If it was all set up for you instead of trying to do it all yourself. I made my own sections and headings etc which is really time consuming when I'm learning the system at the same time.

Might I suggest you get somebody like Nez, who now does this for a living, to set you up a joomla site "made to your requirements". That way everything is in place and it's then a real piece of cake to just pop in and add to your blog etc.

It really is the setting up of joomla sites that I find tricky. After that learning curve though it does improve.

Good luck with it Casey.

Watch the fun here: www.punchbowlenterprises.com

I've been using this site: http://www.screenbooks.net/joomla
it's quite helpful.
